CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ?Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Centers: Special Interest Project Competitive Supplements.? $4,325,000 [this amount is an estimate, and subject to the availability of funds] will be available in fiscal year 2005 to fund approximately 18 awards. The purpose of the Prevention Research Centers (PRC) program?s Special Interest Projects (SIPs) is to support supplemental projects in health promotion and disease prevention research that: (1) focus on the major causes of death and disability, (2) improve public health practice within communities, and (3) cultivate effective state and local public health programs. One of the major focuses of this supplemental funding program is to design, test, and disseminate effective prevention research strategies.
